Task 11: Recommended tools for social media engagement

Two social media tools I would recommend as being beneficial to libraries would be Facebook and Pinterest. I recommend Facebook because you can create a Facebook page account for the library. You can add a brief history of the library, contact information, opening hours, put in upcoming or future events, careers section (to see if any available jobs positions) and create a group section (for book clubs and book reviews). It's easy to use by posting updates, announcements, reminders, pictures, videos and messages (short or long). Pinterest uses pins what they call images and videos, where you can put a description for them. You can save those pins to your account. It would be beneficial for a library because you can upload images or use someone else's image, to create boards (categories) like historical fiction, young adult, new arrivals, staff picks, romance, parenting, fantasy, crime, picture books, text classics, cook books, and many others.
