Task 2: What are social media tools?

Five different types of social media tools and applications are:

Tik Tok (https://www.tiktok.com/):

  • An app where you share and post videos of anything random whether it's lip syncing to a song, reenacting a scene from a movie or a type of audio or dancing to choreography of songs
  • There are also challenges you can do and you add in the hashtag (example, #smallgestures and #fashionasmr)
  • The videos can be 15 or 60 seconds long and you can add special effects and filters
  • You can follow random people where you can like their videos and comment on them

Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/):
  • An app where you share and post videos and images
  • You can follow people while liking their images and commenting on it
  • You can post up to 10 images and add filters and you can post videos that are 60 seconds long
  • You can post images and videos on Instagram Stories and they stay there for 24 hours and then disappear
  •  You can send direct messages to each other

  • It's an app to share and post short messages about your daily life or anything random as long as it's not over 280 words, which are called tweets.
  • You can post videos (maximum length is 2 minutes and 20 seconds), images and send direct messages to each other
  • You can follow people and like or retweet their tweets

  • A video sharing app where you upload your own videos (up to 15 minutes long, 128GB or 12 hours and be careful of copyright) or you watch other people's videos
  • The videos you upload can be listed as public (for everyone to watch), unlisted (only people who have a link to the video can watch) or private (only you can watch it)
  • You can subscribe to other YouTube channels, like or dislike videos and comment on it.
  • You can save any videos to your favourite playlists

  • An app where it requires your mobile phone number (can be used via the web or computer) where you call and video call each other
  • You can send messages, audio messages, images, documents (limit of 100MB), videos, music, your location (a place you are currently at if you have gone to see friends or family), and other people's contact information to individuals or group chats
  • You can create group chats for family, relatives, work and friends
